Younger generation must set the bar for their leadership; here is why and how

People choose companies and not bosses’ said HoD at my first corporate job.

I refused to agree with him…

And this 1 incident guided me since then…here is why?

In my first role, I was reporting to a boss who was toxic & deterrent to my learning; first 3 months I observed 3 instances where my boss took credit for my work, and blamed all my mistakes as I was new despite my concerns. Post 3rd instance, I told my boss – time for separation and raised a formal request to change my boss (with a solution around WHO I want to work with… I already had done my discussions with another potential leader who was managing much complex category & portfolio, he was very excited and I was more excited)

That event turned into a team drama for a week AND my reporting line was changed to another leader. Yes, from boss to a LEADER

For the next, 2 years…we together delivered business results like never before, managed significant crises outpacing all internal benchmarks, and created thought leadership for our category. He got promoted and I got admission into SPJIMR SP Jain Institute of Management & Research

We all spend 10 out of 16 hours (active time every day) at work, we should be allowed to work with leaders who allow us to create, maximize our potential and give us a chance to write SUCCESS TOGETHER 🙂
…and not with those who become the primary reason for sleepless nights, anxiety, and mental health at work.
